About TNO

TNO (Nederlandse organisatie voor toegepast natuurwetenschappelijk onderzoek) is a research organisation with a staff of 4,500 employees, mostly researchers and consultants in many technological fields of interest. In Europe, TNO is among the top suppliers of technological knowledge and it functions as an intermediary between basic research organisations and industry. By translating scientific knowledge into practical applications, TNO contributes to the innovation capacity of businesses and government. Within the expertise areas “Healthy Living & Work” and “Energy & Materials Transition” we work together on all aspects of safe and sustainable by design, including toxicological risk assessment and management and life cycle assessment.

TNO’s role in PLANETS

In PLANETS, TNO leads Work Package 6: SSbD decision support for successful substitution. In addition, TNO contributes to all other WPs, with an emphasis on SSbD expertise in WP2 and WP4.
