BASF’s role in PLANETS
BASF plays a vital role in WP2, utilizing methodologies and tools to assess safe and sustainable substitutions. Leading Task 2.2, BASF integrates industrial design principles among partners. In WP4, BASF will communicate WP2 decisions to support the development of flame retardant alternatives for PolyFR and TCPP in PU, XPE, and EPS, focusing on Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) principles. This involves in-chemico NAMs and life-cycle assessments. BASF also provides innovative Flame Retardants via a subcontractor for assessment. In WP6 and WP9, BASF collaborates with industry associations, Cefic, WBCSD, and JRC for effective SSbD guidance.
